Former NFL player Jesse Lemonier has passed away. He was 25.
An official cause of death has not been determined yet. The Detroit Lions announced his death.
“We are shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of Detroit Lion Jesse Lemonier,” the Lions said in a statement. “Jessie was a model teammate and wonderful young man, who is gone far too soon. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time.”
Lemonier played in the NFL with the 2020 season with the Los Angeles Chargers. He also played the 2021 season with the Detroit Lions.
He has appeared in 13 games with the two teams. Lemonier made two starts with the Lions.
In his career, he made 17 tackles, including one tackle for a loss and five quarterback hits. He also had 1.5 sacks.
Lemonier was selected to play in the upcoming XFL season before his death. He was drafted by the Arlington Renegades during their 2023 XFL Draft.
However, he did not sign with the Renegades. He signed with the Houston Gamblers on New Year’s Eve.
He then was traded to the Birmingham Stallions.
