Soccer player Anwar Megbli succumbed to injuries after Moped accident

According to TMZ Sports, Italian soccer player Anwar Megbli has passed away. He was 18.

An official cause of death has not been announced yet. However, the gossip publication is reporting that he succumbed to injuries sustained in a Moped accident.

Megbli was a member of U.S. Livorno 1915 semi-pro team in Italy. He passed away over the weekend.

Local reports suggest that the incident happened on Saturday. He was allegedly riding on the back of the moped with his friend, according to TMZ, when the moped was rear-ended by a vehicle.

This crash resulted in Megbli being thrown to the ground. He was life-flighted to Cisanello Hospital in Pisa, Italy, where he later passed away.

The driver of the Moped is still in the hospital, according to reports.

“Everyone at the club sends their deepest condolences to his family in this moment of profound sorrow,” the team said in a statement. “Farewell, champ. You will always be one of us.”
