The New England Patriots are short at wide receiver. After Monday, the team is going to be even thinner at the position.

Wide receiver Kendrick Bourne has suffered a torn ACL. He suffered the injury on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins.

The Patriots initially thought it was an MCL tear. However, additional testing on Monday confirmed the devastating news.

Bourne will now miss the rest of the season. And depending on his recovery, he could potentially miss part of the 2024 season.

The Patriots now have at least one day to find a replacement for Bourne if they choose to do so. The NFL’s trade deadline is at 4 pm on Tuesday.

Bourne had three receptions and 36 yards along with a touchdown before his injury.

On the season, Bourne had 37 receptions for 406 yards. He also had four touchdown receptions.

The 406 receiving yards led the Patriots through the first half of the season. Tight end Hunter Henry is second as he is nearly 200 yards behind with 238 yards..

Only three Patriots have had more than 200 receiving yards through the first eight games of the season. Demario Douglas is the third, as he had 222 yards.
