Rangers take 2-1 lead in World Series over D’Backs

The Texas Rangers remain undefeated on the road during the postseason. The Rangers defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 3-1 in Game 3 of the 2023 World Series at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona.

With the win, the Rangers now have taken the lead in the best-of-7 series. Texas now leads the series 2-1.

These two teams will play again on Tuesday and Wednesday night. If necessary, the series will return to Texas for Games 6 and 7.

The Rangers used a big third inning to take the lead. And it was good enough to get the win. In the inning, Marcus Semien singled to left center. This allowed Nathaniel Lowe to score for a 1-0 lead.

Then, later in the inning, Corey Seager hit a two-run home run to deep right field. Semien also scored on the home run.

In the bottom of the eighth inning, Geraldo Perdomo singled to left center. This allowed Emmanuel Rivera to score to make it 3-1.

Rangers pitcher Jon Gray picked up the win. Gray came in when Max Scherzer departed with an injury.

He went 3 innings and allowed one hit. He also struck out three batters in the aforementioned three innings.

Closer José Leclerc picked up his fourth save of the postseason.

Diamondbacks pitcher Brandon Pfaadt received the loss. The rookie went 5 1/3 innings and allowed all three runs on four hits.
