The Las Vegas Raiders have fired general manager Dave Zeigler. The team also fired head coach Josh McDaniels.

Zeigler, like McDaniels, came from the New England Patriots in January 2022. Both had multi years left on their contracts when they were let go.

Champ Kelly has been promoted to interim general manager. Kelly is in his second season with the Raiders and was their assistant general manager before Zeigler was fired.

The 46 year old Zeigler was in his first experience as a general manager. He had not been a general manager before being hired by Raiders owner Mark Davis.

During his short-lived tenure, he made moves that turned out to not work like he had tended. The Raiders, just a few months after his hire, acquired star wide receiver Davante Adams in a blockbuster trade.

The first season was good. However, this season has been a disaster.

Adams is not happy with the team. Davis hopes that interim head coach Antonio Pierce could change that moving forward.

Their star player was seen spiking his helmet into the ground on the sidelines on Monday Night Football. The Raiders were defeated by the Detroit Lions at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan.

He also signed Jimmy Garoppolo that had turned out to be a bust so far. Both Garoppolo and Adams may be gone at the end of the season depending on their contracts and teams interested in their services.

Before being hired by the Raiders as their general manager, he was first with the Denver Broncos in a few roles from 2010 through 2012. In 2010 and 2011, Zeigler and McDaniels also overlapped one another with the Broncos when McDaniels was their head coach and Zeigler was in their front office.

Then, after leaving the Broncos, Zeigler spent nearly a decade with the Patriots. He rose up the ranks of their front office to become their Director of Player Personnel in 2021 before being hired by the Raiders.
