The No. 8 Alabama Crimson Tide have kept their College Football Playoff hopes alive. Even if they may be slim at best.

The Crimson Tide defeated the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs, 27-24, on Saturday afternoon at Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. The loss snapped the Bulldogs 29-game win streak dating back to the 2021 season.

According to ESPN, only three teams, who have lost their conference championship game, have made the College Football Playoff. The College Football Playoff final four will be announced on Sunday at noon.

Alabama has won their 11th SEC Championship game. It was their first SEC Championship game since the 2021 season when then-No. 3 Crimson Tide defeated the No. 1 Bulldogs 41-24.

The 2021 loss was the last time the Bulldogs lost a game until Saturday. They were undefeated for 728 days.

The Crimson Tide are 11-4 in the SEC Championship game.

Georgia was making its 12th appearance in the SEC Championship game. However, after the loss, they fell to 4-7 in the championship game.

The Bulldogs won the game in 2022. They also won the game in 2002, 2005, and 2017.

Crimson Tide quarterback Jalen Milroe went 13 of 23 for 192 yards. He had two touchdown passes.

Kendall Milton had 13 carries for 42 yards and two touchdowns. Brock Bowers had five receptions for 83 yards.

After cutting the Alabama lead to 27-24 with 2:52 left in the game, Kirby Smart hoped that his defense would make a key stop. He hoped that his team would get another chance with the ball.

However, the Crimson Tide had other plans. Williams converted two first downs. Then, Milroe ran out the clock with two kneel downs.

Georgia out scored Alabama 17-10 in the second half. Beck scored on a one-yard rushing touchdown.

Milton scored on a 1-yard rushing touchdown. Peyton Woodring made a 34-yard field goal.

Bama’s Williams scored on a one-yard rushing touchdown. Will Reichard made a 28 yard field goal.

Alabama led 17-7 at halftime. Milroe hit Jam Miller for a 28 yard touchdown reception.

Milroe also connected with Jermaine Burton for a 15 yard touchdown reception. Reichard also made a 43 yard field goal.

Georgia’s Milton also scored a one-yard rushing touchdown in the first half.
