The Detroit Pistons put up a good fight. But unfortunately, for the 28th straight time, it wasn’t good enough.
The Boston Celtics defeated the Pistons, 128-122, on Thursday night. The game was played at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts.

The Pistons led by as much as 21 points in the contest. They even had a 19-point halftime lead with a 66-47 lead.

However, at the end of the third quarter, the Celtics made it close one again. Jayson Tatum cut the Pistons lead to 77-76 with 4:04 left in the third quarter.
The game was tied at 82 at the end of the third quarter.
The game was back and forth in the fourth quarter. The Celtics led 106-100 with 1:44 in the fourth before the game was tied at 106.
Tatum then gave the Celtics a 108-106 lead with 8 seconds left. Bojan Bogdanovic had a tip in with four seconds left to tie the game.
The Celtics missed the final shot as Tatum missed an eight-foot jumper with one second left.
In the final stanza, the Celtics outscored the Pistons for the win.
With the 28th straight loss, the Pistons have now tied the Philadelphia 76ers dubious feat. The 76ers had 28 consecutive losses during the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons.

Philadelphia lost 10 games to close out the 2014-15 seasons. Then lost 18 straight games to begin the 2015-16 season.
Current 76ers player Robert Covington, who was acquired by the team in the James Harden deal on Halloween, had a game-high as they defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 103-91 at the Wells Fargo Center to snap the losing streak.
The Pistons will attempt to snap the streak at home as well. Their next game is on Saturday night against the Toronto Raptors.
Kristaps Porzongis led the Celtics with 35 points. He also had eight rebounds, one assist, and one steal.
He was one of three Celtics players in double digit. Tatum added 31 points and Derrick White contributed 23.
The team had 19 bench points. Payton Pritchard led the bench with nine points.
Cade Cunningham led the Pistons with 31 points. He also had six rebounds, nine assists, three steals, and two blocks.
He was one of four Pistons players, who scored in double figures. Jaden Ivey had 22 points.
Jalen Duran contributed 15 and Bogdanovic added 17.
Detroit had 31 bench points. Alec Burks had 12 bench points.
