CHESTER, Pa. — The Philadelphia Union and Mexico’s C.F. Pachuca played to a scoreless draw in their first leg of the Concacaf Champions Cup at Subaru Park. The game ended with a 0-0 score.
The second leg of this series will come on Tuesday, March 12th. That’s when the Union will travel to Estadio Hidalgo in Hidalgo, Mexico.
Both teams had opportunities to score. Yet, in the second half, the Union appeared to be the aggressor as they took more chances to score.
C.F. Pachuca thought that they were going to have a penalty kick right before halftime in extra time due to a hand ball. However, VAR (Video Assistant Referee) canceled the chance when it was determined that Pachuca’s player hit the ball first. Then Union’s Nathan Harriel hit the ball.
The Union will make the trip to Mexico following their home contest on Saturday, March 9th. The Union play the Seattle Sounders FC at 7:30 pm EST.
Like the Union, C.F. Pachuca also has a game on Saturday. They face Querétaro F.C. in their Week 11 matchup at 8 pm local time.
For Philadelphia to have any chance at advancing to the Round of 8, they will have to strike first in a tough environment to play in. If they are successful in doing this, then C.F. Pachuca will have to score twice to advance.
