The Atlanta Falcons have traded quarterback Desmond Ridder to the Arizona Cardinals. In exchange, wide receiver Rondale Moore has been moved to Atlanta.

Ridder became expandable when the Falcons signed free agent quarterback Kirk Cousins. He is going to be their starting quarterback after signing a four-year, $180 million deal.

The 24-year-old signal caller was believed to have the potential to be their franchise quarterback last season. However, months later, the Cardinals received a quality backup for Kyler Murray in case he gets hurt again.

Murray missed much of the season as he recovered from a torn ACL that he suffered against the New England Patriots in December 2022. The Cardinals used several quarterbacks until Murray was able to return last season.

Ridder was a third round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Last season, he appeared in 15 games, including 13 starts. He was 6-7 in those starts.

When Ridder played, he was 249 of 388 for 2,836 yards. He had 12 touchdown passes and 12 interceptions.

In two seasons, Ridder has appeared in 19 games with 17 starts. He was 8-9 as a starter.

Ridder went 322 of 503 for 3,544 yards. He had 14 touchdown passes and 12 interceptions.

Moore is another weapon for the Falcons’ offense. He joins a group that Cousins will lead that includes running back Bijan Robinson, wide receiver Drake London and tight end Kyle Pitts.

The 23-year-old receiver was a second round pick by the Cardinals in the 2021 NFL Draft. In his career, Moore has appeared in 39 games with 23 starts.

He has had 135 receptions for 1,201 yards and three touchdowns. Moore has also had 52 carries for 249 rushing yards and one touchdown.

In the aforementioned three seasons, Moore has not had more than 435 receiving yards in a season. He did that during his rookie season.

The past two seasons, his numbers have declined. He had 414 yards in 2022 and 352 yards in 2023.

Moore played in 17 games last season. However, he did not have more than 48 receiving yards in a game.

He had 48 receiving yards in a 21-16 loss to the Houston Texans on November 19th, 2023.

Only once in his career did he go past 100 receiving yards in a game. That came in his second career game when he had 114 yards and a touchdown on a 34-33 win over the Minnesota Vikings.
