Their Group Stage games are complete. Atlanta United and Santos Laguna will play each other on Sunday to complete the group.

Following that game, D.C. United will know who their next opponent will be. They had five points after the two games.

D.C. United will either play a Major League Soccer side or a Mexican team in the next round. That will come next week.

The game was played in Chester, Pennsylvania, the home of the Philadelphia Union, because of issues with the playing field at Audi Field in Washington, D.C. This was a last minute decision that came down by the Leagues Cup last Friday.

A new field was expected to be played down at Audi Field on Wednesday.

D.C. United went up 1-0 in the first half. That’s when Christian Benteke scored in the 28th minute.

In the second half, D.C. United scored two goals. Ted Ku-DiPietro scored in the 48th minute.

Ten minutes later, Cristian Dajome scored. His goal came in the 58th minute.

D.C. United also had three goals against Atlanta United in their first Leagues Cup game. Then, the Red-and-Black won in penalty kicks for the two points.
