Soccer player Olivier Giroud has made his LAFC debut. He came on the field in the Leagues Cup play against the San Jose Earthquakes in the Round of 16 in their 4-1 win.
It was announced that Giroud would sign with LAFC in July. He joined his fellow French teammate Hugo Lloris, who signed with the team in December.
Giroud came into the Leagues Cup contest in the 71st minute. He replaced Cristian Olivera.

He did not score in the final 30 minutes of the contest.
The long-time soccer player has scored 183 goals in his career over 15 seasons. His first Major League Soccer goal will have to wait.
Giroud has played in Ligue 2, Ligue 1, the Premier League, and Serie A. He last played for AC Milan.
Before joining AC Milan, he played for Chelsea and Arsenal in the Premier League. In addition, he also played in Tours in Ligue 2, and Montpellier in Ligue 1.
In his final season during the 2023-24 season with AC Milan, Giroud had 15 goals in 35 matches.

He has scored 11 or more goals in the past three seasons. But he will unlikely tally that many goals with nine MLS regular season games left once the competition resumes following the Leagues Cup action.
