The Dallas Cowboys have released tight end Peyton Hendershot. He spent the last two seasons with the team.
Hendershot will be one of the top prospects on the waiver market. The 25 year old lost a camp battle for his position before being released on the final cutdown day.
According to ESPN depth chart, Hendershot was listed as their third tight end before his release. Now, John Stephen Jr. moves into the third position.
Jake Ferguson is the Cowboys starting tight end. Luke Schoonmaker is listed as his primary backup.
In the Cowboys last preseason game at AT&T Stadium against the Los Angeles Chargers, he had one reception for 10 yards. It was his lone statistical data from the preseason.
He has appeared in 25 games, including 3 games. Hendershot had one start during the 2023 season.
In his short-lived career, he has had 15 receptions for 141 yards. Hendershot also had two touchdown receptions.
He’s also had two carries for two yards and a touchdown.
During the 2022 season after being an undrafted free agent, Hendershot appeared in 17 games, including two starts. He then had 11 receptions for 103 yards and two touchdowns.
Last season, he appeared in eight games with the aforementioned one start. He had four receptions for 38 yards.
