The No. 1 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide let their trap game get to them. The unranked Vanderbilt Commodores pulled a massive upset.

It’s their biggest win in program history. They shocked the Crimson Tide 40-35 on Saturday afternoon at FirstBank Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee.

This is the Commodores first win against an Associated Press No. 1 ranked team. If also snapped their 23-game losing streak to the Crimson Tide.

During the week, first-year head coach Kalen DeBoer knew this would be a trap game. He put mouse traps around the facility.

Unfortunately, it didn’t work.

The Commodores improved to 3-2 on the season. The Crimson Tide fell to 4-1.

This loss comes just days after the Crimson Tide won a mega matchup with the Georgia Bulldogs. It was a matchup of No. 2 and No. 4 ranked teams that Alabama ultimately won.

Vanderbilt head coach Clark Lea improved to 11-29 during his tenure in Nashville, Tennessee. He may surpass the 5-7 record he had during the 2022 season.

In the offseason, the Commodores rebuilt the program, the announcers said.

Commodores quarterback Diego Pavia went 16 of 20 for 252 yards. He had two touchdown passes.
