There has been a lot of speculation about Kayla Harrison and if she can compete at the UFC level. For the second straight fight, Harrison has won.

She defeated Ketlen Vieira on Saturday in their women’s bantamweight bout during UFC 307 at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. She won by unanimous decision.

This was the first time that Harrison went the distance in the UFC. The judges had the fight 30-27, 30-27, and 29-28.

Harrison and Vieira were the first fight of the main card.

Harrison — the two-time Olympic Gold Medalist in Women’s Judo — is now 18-1 in her MMA career. The Middletown, Ohio native picked up her eighth win by a decision.

This was her first decision win since her last Professional Fighters League fight. That’s when she won by unanimous decision over Aspen Ladd, a former UFC fighter, on November 24th, 2023.

She made former champion Holly Holm to take out in her UFC debut. She won over Holm at UFC 300 in the second round by a rear-naked choke submission.

Vieira — who is also known as “Fenomeno” — fell to 14-4 in her MMA career. She now has three decision losses.

She has dropped two of her last three fights, as she also lost to Raquel Pennington on January 14th, 2023, in UFC Fight Night 217 by split decision. It was her first unanimous decision loss to Yana Santos at UFC Fight Night 185 on February 20th, 2021.
