If necessary, the two teams will play Game 5 on Saturday at 4:38 pm.

Comerica Park will be rocking as the Tigers host their first games at home in the postseason since 2014.

Tigers manager A.J. Hinch decided to have Kerry Carpenter come off the bench in this game. And it ultimately turned out to be the right move.

With Guardians’ closer Emmanuel Clasé on the mound, he got Spencer Torkelson to strike out. Then Parker Meadows popped out.

Clasé — who was considered the best closer in the game this season — gave up a single to left center by Jake Rogers. Then, Trey Sweeney singled to center field that moved Rogers to third base.

Then, it was Carpenter’s turn in the box. He took Clasé deep as he hit a 422-foot home run to deep center field. This gave the Tigers a 3-0 lead.

Afterward, Clasé then gave up a single to Matt Vierling. But Eli Morgan came in to shut down Colt Keith to close out the inning.

Hinch brought in Tigers pitcher Beau Brieske — who is one of their closers — to try to close out the game. And he was able to do just that.

Relief pitcher Will Vest received the win. The Tigers pitcher went one inning and struck out one batter.

Clasé received the loss. He allowed four runs (3 earned runs) in one inning of work.
