The New York Yankees have had two of their sluggers struggle in the first two games of the 2024 American League Divisional Series. Unfortunately for the Yankees, they may need both of these players to perform at a high level or semi-high level to defeat the Kansas City Royals.

Right now, the Royals and the Yankees are tied at 1 game apiece. And the teams are headed back to Kansas City, Missouri to play games there on Wednesday and Thursday night. If necessary, the teams will play back in New York on Saturday.

Aaron Judge is 1-for-7 in the two games. We have already profiled his struggles with one run in the series.

However, in this story, we’ll also focus on the other struggler, who is struggling in Giancarlo Stanton. He is 1-for-8 with just one RBI.

According to statmuse.com, Stanton has a .250 batting average in the postseason. He also has 26 hits in the extra season with 11 home runs, 25 RBIs, and 16 runs scored in 29 games.

This postseason against the Royals, however, he is batting just .125. He also has a .222 on-base percentage and a .125 slugging percentage.

Stanton has struck out twice and walked just once. He also has one total base.

Stanton picked up his RBI in Game 2 in the series. He singled to left field and scored Gleyber Torres for the 1-0 lead.

In the past two postseasons, he has batted under .200. He had a .188 batting average through nine games during the Yankees nine games in their 2022 postseason run.

These are the only two times that he has batted under .200 in a postseason. Right now, the 2024 postseason is not complete so he may or may not improve those stats.

Stanton has had 104 postseason at-bats, with all coming with the Yankees since the 2018 season.
