Tony Stewart wins first NHRA Top Fuel Dragster event

Tony Stewart Racing Nitro driver and team owner Tony Stewart has claimed his first NHRA Top Fuel Wally on Sunday. He won the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Stewart went 3.870 at 317.42 mph to get the win. He defeated four-time Top Fuel champion Antron Brown, Justin Ashley and Jasmine Salinas in the quad.

Brown went 3.912 at 302.35 mph. He finished second in his 150th career final round.

Ashley went 3.965 at 304.25 mph. Salinas went 4.237 at 196.67 mph.

Brown also experienced an explosion near the finish line. Salinas lost traction and then coasted to the finish line.

Stewart had gone to the final round for the second straight race. Two weekends ago, he was defeated by Clay Millican in the final round at the Winternationals in Pomona, California.

The NASCAR Hall of Famer was third off the line. Yet, he went straight down the groove to get the win.

He won by 0.0182 seconds. Stewart won the race by eight feet.
