San Diego Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson is doubtful about playing the season’s second game. He is dealing with a sprained right big toe.

Right now, the Chargers have listed Tomlinson as day-to-day. It is not clear how long he’ll be nursing this injury.

While the team claims it’ll be a day-to-day injury, depending on how much pain Tomlinson could play through, it can linger and become a several-week injury.

In the season opener, Tomlinson had 21 carries in a 26-24 loss to the Carolina Panthers at home. He had 97 rushing yards.

He also had three receptions for 15 yards in the game.

The Chargers next game is on the road against the Denver Broncos. At press time, it’s not clear if he’ll be playing in this game.

The team will give Tomlinson enough treatment to see if he’ll be able to go. If he is able to play, a decision will truly come on Sunday leading up to the game.

During the 2007 season, Tomlinson was a workhorse, as he had 315 carries. He had 1,474 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns.
