Former Gators in the Super Bowl for the 10th straight year

The Super Bowl is just one week away. Yet, this Super Bowl marks the 10th straight year that one college football team has had at least one player play in the game.

The Florida Gators have been represented in the biggest game of the year over that time period.

Next week, the New England Patriots and the New York Giants battle for the Championship in Indianapolis. There will be five former Gators playing in this year’s game.

Aaron Hernandez, Brandon Spikes, Gerard Warren, and Jermaine Cunningham will be representing the Patriots. Justin Trattou is the lone member of the New York Giants who attended the University of Florida.

All five former Gators will be making their first appearance in the Super Bowl.

During the regular season, Hernandez had 79 receptions for 910 yards. He also had seven touchdown receptions.

Warren appeared in 12 games. He did not make a single start on the season.

He had 12 tackles on the season. He also had two tackles for a loss and four quarterback hits. He also had 1.0 sacks.

Spikes appeared in eight games. He made six starts.

He also had 47 tackles. He had two tackles for a loss and one quarterback hit. He also had one pass deflection.

Cunningham appeared in nine games. He did not make a single start. He had one tackle on the season.

Trattou has been a reserve with the Giants during his rookie season. He has appeared in six games.

He has had two tackles.
