Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is one of the most popular wrestlers — even though he doesn’t wrestle anymore — and a movie star. Now, he’s signed into a global partnership with Under Armour to be their latest sponsored athlete.

He’ll work hand-in-hand with the brand to create a range of products in the long-term deal. This will include footwear, apparel, and accessories, which will also include the company’s Connected Fitness initiatives.

“We wanted to empower as many people as possible to attack their goals, so we partnered with the best innovators in the health and fitness business. Together with Under Armour, we will deliver game-changing products to help people get after it and chase greatness,” said Johnson.

The Rock, who is also big into fitness, will help with original content, which will be inspired by his lifestyle and fitness regimen. He’s expected to have a big role in the company’s Connected Fitness platform, which recently debuted Under Armour HealthBox and Record applications.

The footwear, apparel, and accessories will also be inspired by the films that he’s working on. The Rock-inspired backpack and duffle bag will be on UA.com as well as being available in select Brand Houses in February.

“Dwayne has been a key partner to the Under Armour brand for many years and a key contributor to sports and entertainment as a whole. We are thrilled to have him officially join the UA Team. His values and commitment to health and fitness directly align with Under Armour’s brand mission to make all athletes better and we look forward to working with him for many years to come,” Todd Montesano, Senior Vice President of Strategic Partnerships and Entertainment, said.

He’ll also be enrolled to help drive awareness of Under Armour’s philanthropic initiative, UA Freedom. This is to inspire, honor, and support the members of the United States military, as well as first responders and public safety officials.

After being a seven-time WWE Champion, Johnson has been a powerhouse in the box office with his worldwide films. In 2013, he was one of Forbes’ Top Grossing Actors. He was also named the Top International Box Office Star last year.

He’s currently filming HBO’s “Ballers,” which received a 2016 People’s Choice Award for Favorite Premium Cable TV Actor.

Throughout his successful career, Johnson has remained dedicated to promoting health and fitness, with a continued mission to educate, empower, and motivate people around the world through health and physical fitness.

He now joins an all-star roster that includes Stephen Curry – who signed a new Under Armour deal that includes an ownership stake – Tom Brady, Cam Newton, Misty Copeland, Jordan Spieth, Lindsey Vonn, Andy Murray, and Michael Phelps.
