Ryan Braun sent the Milwaukee Brewers fans home happy. Braun hit a game-winning home run, as the Brewers defeated the St. Louis Cardinals, 5-4, on Tuesday night at Miller Park.
Milwaukee improved to 4-1 on the season with Braun’s heroics. The Cardinals fell to 2-3 on the season.
According to ESPN’s Stats and Information, this was the first game in MLB history that both started and ended with back-to-back home runs.

Braun hit the Dominic Leone pitch to deep left center field. The home run, with two outs, went 403 feet.
Christian Yelich, who was acquired in the offseason in a trade with the Miami Marlins, tied the game up at 4 all in the bottom of the ninth. Yelich hit a pitch off of the Cardinals pitcher to deep right center field that went 389 feet.
In the bottom of the eighth inning, the Brewers scored two runs to cut the lead to 4-3. Jonathan Villar singled to right field that scored Travis Shaw.
Yelich began the eighth inning with a double to deep right center. After Braun struck out, Shaw singled to right center, causing Yelich to score.
The Brewers got on the board in the bottom of the fifth inning. Yelich singled to shallow center field that scored Orlando Arcia.
The Cardinals took a 4-0 in the Top of the 3rd inning. Marcell Ozuna hit a two-run, 415-foot home run that also scored Tommy Pham.

St. Louis went up 2-0 in the first inning. Dexter Fowler, the first batter of the game, hit a 385-foot home run to deep right field for a 1-0 lead.
Then, Pham, the second batter, took the Chase Anderson pitch to deep right center field for a 407-foot home run, as the Cardinals took a 2-0 lead.
Anderson went four innings and allowed four runs. He had five strike outs and allowed eight hits, while in the game.
Dan Jennings pitched a perfect inning for the win (1-0). He also struck out one batter during the inning in which he pitched.
Jack Flaherty went five innings for the Cardinals and allowed just one run. He struck out nine batters, while allowing six hits.
Leone received the loss (0-1), as he went 1 1/3 innings and allowed two runs, both home runs, on three hits. He struck out two batters.
