Colorado Buffaloes head coach Mel Tucker has named Tyson Summers as his Defensive Coordinator on his inaugural staff at the school, according to FootballScoop. The Tifton, Georgia native spent this past season as the Georgia Bulldogs Defensive Quality Control Coach.
On the staff with Summers was Tucker, who served as the Bulldogs Defensive Coordinator. Before joining the Georgia Staff, he was the Georgia Southern Eagles head coach for 18 games.

He went 5-13 in those games. He was fired after six games of the 2017 season.

Before being the Eagles head coach, he was the Colorado State Rams Defensive Coordinator and Safeties Coach in 2015. He also was the UCF Knights Defensive Coordinator from 2012 through 2014.
He also was the UAB Blazers Safeties Coach/Co-Special Teams Coach in 2011. He also was the Blazers Linebackers Coach from 2007 through 2010.
Summers spent the 2006 season as the Eagles Safeties Coach. He served as the Bulldogs Graduate Assistant/Defensive Backs Coach in 2005.

He also was the Troy Trojans Graduate Assistant/Wide Receivers Coach in 2004. He also was the Presbyterian Blue Hose Defensive Backs Coach in 2003.
He began coaching as a Graduate Assistant/Defensive Backs Coach in 2002 with the Tift County High School Blue Devils in Georgia.
