The Houston Rockets have traded Carmelo Anthony’s contract to the Chicago Bulls. This would have the Rockets a roster spot to sign Kenneth Faried.
He was recently released by the Brooklyn Nets after reaching a buyout with the franchise. In order for Faried to play with the Rockets on Monday night, the franchise had to release James Nunnally.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Melo trade call will not go down until Tuesday due to Monday being a holiday (Martin Luther King Jr. Day). The Bulls will not allow Anthony to play in any games with the franchise.

Instead, the team plans to buy out his contract. That will be after the trade deadline if they cannot include his contract in any deals leading up to or on the trade deadline.
Anthony is a disgruntled player, who has been exiled from the Houston Rockets. After signing a one-year, $2.4 million player, he was banished from the team after 10 games.
The 34-year-old New York, New York native continues to refuse to accept a bench role with any team he plays for. With the Rockets, he appeared in 10 games with just two starts. He averaged 13.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, 0.5 assists, 0.4 steals, and 0.7 blocks in 29.4 minutes per game.

His eight games off the bench for the Rockets was the first time in his career that he came off the bench. He has appeared in 1,064 NBA games with 1,056 starts. He also has a career average of 24 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.0 steals, and 0.5 blocks in 35.8 minutes per game.
