Alabama Crimson Tide suffered a devastating blow on Saturday. Their superstar quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has been lost for the rest of the season. The Heisman Trophy candidate has seen those hopes go up in smoke, as he suffered a dislocated hip on Saturday.
He was injured in the second quarter when two Mississippi State Bulldogs players landed on him. Initially, it was believed that he suffered a nose injury, as he was bleeding from the nose.
However, it was much worse, as he had to be stretchered off of the field. Besides the dislocated right hip, he also suffered a posterior wall fracture, according to ESPN.

The medical staff is evaluating his condition to see what will be the best way to treat him in the future. Barring a surprise announcement in the off-season, Tagovailoa’s college football career is expected to be over.
He is considered a top quarterback prospect in the 2020 NFL Draft. He is expected to make a full recovery, according to Alabama orthopedic surgeon Dr. Lyle Cain.
Head coach Nick Saban said Tagovailoa’s injury after the game was a ‘kind of a freak injury you seldom see.’
“He was good, at least as good as he was a week ago in terms of his ability to move,” Saban added. “I don’t think anything he did affected his performance in the first half. So the guy played, and I thought he played really well. And we hate that he got injured. We hate it for him. We hate it for his family. I hate it when any player on our team gets injured. So Godspeed to him and his entire family, and our thoughts and prayers are with them and hope this is not so serious it has any long-term effect on his future as a player.”
Saban said he was injured on what could have been Tagovailoa’s final drive of the game, according to what he told ESPN’s Molly McGrath. The veteran coach said the star was practicing the two-minute drill when he was hurt.

“That was going to be his last series,” Saban said. “We were going to do two-minute before the half was over just for practice. First, we’ve got to block them better so he doesn’t get sacked. It’s too bad.”
The incident happened with the Crimson Tide leading 35-7 late in the second quarter. He went 14 of 18 for 256 yards and two touchdowns before the injury.
