According to Hendricks County Sheriff’s Department Captain Amanda Goings, there was an accident on 1000 East South of 56th St. near Brownsburg, Indiana late Sunday night. The accident happened at approx. 11:11 pm.

The investigation indicates that a vehicle, a 1957 Chevrolet Wagon, was traveling southbound on County Road 1000E when the vehicle traveled off of the road. The vehicle came to a stop after striking a utility pole.

The passengers, Richard Crampton, 40, and Jacob Sanders, 30, of Brownsburg, Indiana were also injuries in the crash. Both Crampton and Sanders are expected to survive their injuries, Goings said.

There is an ongoing investigation into the crash, as the crash reconstructionists are investigating the collision. However, at this time, it is believed that speed was a factor in the crash.

The vehicle in the crash is believed to be the “Shitbox of Doom.” This was Crampton and Jonnie Lindberg’s brainchild for the 2018 Drag Week event.

Lindberg used the vehicle in question as a tow vehicle to tow his Top Alcohol Funny Car to the starting line this past weekend at the Dodge NHRA Indy Nationals presented by Pennzoil at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis. Crampton was supposed to drive Lindberg’s Alcohol Funny Car during the prestigious U.S. Nationals in several weeks, but those plans may change now.

Lagana was working this past weekend as a member of Billy Torrence’s Top Fuel team. Sanders is also employed by Torrence Racing.
