Former NFL player Louis Nix III shot in Jacksonville

Former NFL player Louis Nix III was shot in Jacksonville, Florida. Nix III was shot during a robbery attempt.

He was at a gas station when the incident happened. He was in serious condition, according to Jacksonville.com.

“I just got shot and robbed while I was putting air in my tires,” Nix III said on Instagram, via Inside The Irish. “If I do not make it, I really love everybody. I can’t contact nobody right now, and I am glad they are putting it on the line for me. I love you all.”

On Wednesday, he let his followers know on Twitter that he needed surgery. However, at this time, we do not know if he had the surgery yet.

“I’m alive everyone,” Nix III said on Twitter. “The bullet that hit me ricocheted off my sternum into my lung. Surgery is the next step so keep praying for me. Thank you all for the positive energy and prayers.”

Nix III was shot at approx. 9 am at the Gate gas station at 60 Airport Center Drive. Despite being shot, he was able to give the authorities a description of the alleged suspects.

According to Nix III, the suspects were between 16-to-20-years-old. The alleged suspects ran behind a car wash following the shooting.

The alleged suspects were also described as thin males. According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, the two alleged suspects appear to be black and were wearing jackets at the time with one appearing to wear a ski mask.

Nix III said that one of the alleged suspects put a flashlight in his face and were demanding money. The former professional football player allegedly pushed them back, then felt pain in his chest.

He played college football for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He was then a third-round draft pick in the 2014 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans.

He played one season with the Texans in 2014. Then, he was claimed off waivers by the New York Giants in 2015.

He’s not played in the NFL since the 2015 season.
