The No. 14 Illinois Fighting Illini defeated the Kansas State Wildcats on Tuesday. The Fighting Illini won 72-64 in the Hall of Fame Classic at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri.
The Fighting Illini improved to 3-2 with the win. The loss dropped the Wildcats to 2-2.
Kofi Cockburn led the Fighting Illini with 23 points. He also had 13 rebounds, two assists, one block, and one steal.
Cockburn was one of two Illinois players, who scored in double digits. Alfonso Plummer had 21 points.
Illinois had 34 bench points. Plummer led the bench with the aforementioned 21 points.
The team had 24 points in the paint. In addition, they had five fast break points and eight second half points.
Markquis Nowell led the Wildcats with 19 points. He also had six rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
Howell was one of three Kansas State players, who scored in double figures. Starters Nijel Pack had 15 and Ismael Massoud contributed 13.
K-State had 28 bench points. Nowell led the bench with the aforementioned 19 points.
The team had 28 points in the paint. The Wildcats had six fast break points and nine second chance points.
