According to FootballScoop.com, Jon Sumrall will be returning to his former employer. He is expected to be hired as the Troy Trojans head football coach.
This will be his first head coaching opportunity in his coaching career.

Sumrall replaces Chip Lindsey, who was fired by the school in November. He went 15-19 in three seasons at the school.
He’s taking over a Trojans program that went 5-6 this past season. Lindsey could not win more than five games with the team.
This past season, Sumrall was the Wildcats co-defensive coordinator. His official title was co-defensive coordinator and inside linebackers coach.
Sumrall and Brad White, who is the other defensive coordinator, have helped the Wildcats to average allowing 22 points per game.
He has spent the last three seasons with the Wildcats. Before the promotion this season, he was Mark Stoops inside linebackers coach.
The Trojans are hiring someone familiar with the program. He was the Trojans Assistant Head Coach/Linebackers/Special Teams Coordinator from 2015 through 2018.
He went to three Bowl games while he was employed by the school.
Outside of working for the Wildcats and the Trojans, Sumrall has also been employed by the Ole Miss Rebels, Tulane Green Wave, and the San Diego Toros.
This is the second time that a defensive coordinator for Stoops, who has been hired away to be the Trojans head coach.
