The Philadelphia Eagles have officially claimed the first-round draft pick from the Indianapolis Colts. The first-round draft pick was a condition in the Carson Wentz trade.

The former No. 2 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft was traded by the Eagles to the Colts in the off-season. In the package, there was a condition, where Wentz had to play in a certain amount of snaps in order to meet the criteria in the deal.

Wentz on Saturday completed the conditions, as he had to play in 75% of the Colts offensive snaps. Despite being injured earlier this season, he has played in more than 90% of the Colts offensive snaps.

The package for Wentz said that their second-round draft would convert to a first-round draft pick if Wentz played in 75% of offensive snaps. This season, he has played 90% or more offensive snaps in every game this season except for one.

On December 5 against the Houston Texans, Wentz played in 86% of the offensive snaps. He had 62 offensive snaps before being replaced late in the blowout 31-0 win over the Texans.

Now, Executive Vice President and General Manager Howie Roseman will have three picks in the 2022 NFL Draft. Outside of their own pick, the team also acquired the Dolphins first-round draft pick in a deal in March.

The Eagles acquired the No. 12 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, along with the No. 123 pick and a 2022 first-round draft pick in the deal. The Dolphins acquired the No. 6 draft pick and the No. 156 draft pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Philadelphia will be the latest team in the NFL Draft history to have three first-round draft picks. The Dolphins were the last team to have three first-round draft picks during the 2020 NFL Draft. The Las Vegas Raiders and the New York Giants also had three first-round draft picks during the 2019 NFL Draft.
