Stan Allen to drive Wayne Smozanek’s Tropical Thunder in 2022

The Tropical Thunder drag racing team lives on. In February, driver Wayne Smozanek passed away.

His widow Wendy Smozanek has announced that the team will take part in the Street Outlaws No Prep Kings Season 5. The belief was that his son Will Race will drive the car.

The team will have a new driver. However, Will Race will not be driving the car this season.

“Team Tropical Thunder – Wayne Smozanek and Stan Allen Racing have joined together,” she said in a Facebook post. “Stan Allen will be driving and Will Race Smozanek and I and the entire Tropical Thunder will have his back! This is a very emotional post for me as I transition from physically having Wayne Smozanek by my side to having his spirit with all of us as we continue in this journey called life!

On behalf of me personally and our entire team… Please help me welcome Stan and his entire family to “our” family! Allen will drive the car in early April at the first NPK event in Palm Beach International on April 8th and 9th.

After the Palm Beach race, the tour will travel to 14 additional stops across the country. The season will conclude in October.
