Before the 2017 event, Schatz had a stretch where he won nine out of 10 Knoxville Nationals dating back to 2006.

He is now one win shy of tying Steve Kinsey’s record. Kinser won 12 Knoxville Nationals in his legendary career.

The Tony Stewart Racing driver is the only active driver, who has won multiple Knoxville Nationals. The other drivers — Doug Wolfgang (5), Danny Lasoski (4), Kenny Weld (4), Mark Kinser (3), and Eddie Leavitt (2) — are all retired.

David Gravel, who won the event in 2019, finished second. Logan Schuchart finished third.
