Air Force defeats Baylor for their first win over the Bears

The Air Force Falcons picked up their first win over the Baylor Bears. It just happened to come in the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl.

The Falcons won 30-15 over the Bears at Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort Worth, Texas.

With the win, Air Force won 10 games. This is their second straight 10-win season. The school has achieved this feat in three of their last four seasons.

The loss dropped the Bears to 6-7. Baylor dropped their last four games to end the season.

The Falcons have won their last four Bowl games and improved to 15-13-1 in Bowl games. This streak began with the Arizona Bowl when they defeated the South Alabama Jaguars 45-21 on December 30th, 2016 at Arizona Stadium in Tucson, Arizona.

This was their sixth appearance in the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl. However, they approved to just 2-4 overall in the contest.

Both of the Armed Forces Bowl wins have come under Falcons head coach Troy Calhoun. He also guided the Falcons to a 47-20 win over the Houston Cougars on December 31st, 2009.

The Bears had won the previous three games in the series. This was their first meeting since 1977, as they won 38-7 in Waco, Texas on October 22nd, 1977.

Baylor also won the meeting in 1961 and 1962.

The Bears were appearing in their first Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl. They are the ninth team, who has lost in a single appearance in the game.

Baylor is now 14-12 in Bowl games. They have dropped two of their last three Bowl games.

Falcons quarterback Haaziq Daniels went 4 of 7 for 103 yards. He had one touchdown pass.

Brad Roberts had 37 carries for 116 yards and two touchdowns. Amari Terry had a 68-yard reception.

Bears quarterback Blake Shapen went 11 of 23 for 188 yards. He had two touchdown passes.

Craig Williams had seven carries for 25 yards. Jaylen Ellis had a 57-yard reception.

Air Force outscored Baylor 21-8 in the second half. Daniels scored a two-yard rushing touchdown. Daniels also hit Caleb Rillos for a 15-yard touchdown reception.

Roberts also scored on a one-yard rushing touchdown.

Baylor got on the board when Shapen hit Gavin Holmes for a 14-yard touchdown reception. Shapen then converted a two-point conversion.

The Falcons led 9-7 at halftime. Roberts scored on a two-yard rushing touchdown. Matthew Dapore made a 37-yard field goal.

Shapen hit Hal Presley for an eight-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter.
