Bandits defeat Wings 13-9 after honoring Kevin Finneran

PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia Wings fell apart in the second half. The Wings were defeated by the Buffalo Bandits 13-9 on Friday night at the Wells Fargo Center.

The Wings suffered a tough loss on Hall of Fame night. Before the game, Kevin Finneran became the fourth Wings player to have his jersey retired by the team.

The Wings have dropped their third straight game with the loss. With the loss, Philadelphia fell to 2-4 on the young season.

The Bandits improved to 5-2 on the season. Buffalo is currently second in the league as the Rochester Knighthawks have an undefeated record at 6-0.

They have a weekend doubleheader as the team will be back in action on Saturday night. They play at NYCB Live – Nassau Coliseum against the New York Riptide, who bring a 1-4 record into the contest.

The Bandits outscored the Wings 10-3 in the second half. Buffalo outscored the hometown team 6-1 in the third quarter.

This was the first of two meetings between the teams this season. The teams also play on February 18th in Buffalo, New York.

In the third quarter, the Bandits scored six straight goals. This put them up 9-6 before the Wings scored two straight goals.

For a brief moment in time, the Wings had the game tied at 9-9. However, after a challenge by Wings head coach Paul Day, the goal was disallowed.

The Bandits went on a 4-1 run to end the game.

Tehoka Nanticoke led the Bandits with 3 goals. Dalton Sulver, Kyle Buchanan, and Dhane Smith added two goals each.

Sulver had one assist. Buchanan had two assists, while Smith added seven assists.

Brad McCulley, Nick Weiss, Josh Byrne, and Brian Robinson scored one goal each. On Robinson’s goal, it was ruled a goal after there was inconclusive evidence to overturn the goal.

McCulley had three assists. Weiss had one assist and Byrne had four assists. Robinson also had one assist.

Bandits goalie Matt Vine received the win. He made 45 saves in the game.

Ben McIntosh led the Wings with three goals. He also had two assists.

Matt Rambo also had two goals and two assists. Blaze Riorden contributed two goals and one assist. Joe Resetarits had one goal and five assists.

Sam LeClair added one goal.

Wings goaltender Zach Higgins received the loss. He had 44 saves and allowed 12 goals.

He was replaced by Angus Goodleaf, who played briefly in the game. He allowed one goal and had three saves in six minutes of action.
