The San Francisco 49ers are in a tough situation. The team is in enemy territory.
During the first quarter, the 49ers saw rookie quarterback Brock Purdy go down with a right elbow injury. He is currently questionable to return, according to the team.

Veteran journeyman Josh Johnson is now in at quarterback. Fullback Kyle Juszczyk is the emergency quarterback.
At the time of publication, it is not clear yet if Purdy will be able to come back. If he can’t, then Johnson will lead the way unless he suffers an injury as well.
Before departing the play, Purdy went 2 for 2 for 19 yards. He was ruled to have been sacked and fumble the ball on a play where Hassan Reddick tackled him.
Purdy’s hand was going forward. The play went to review. Ultimately, the officials ruled that Purdy fumbled the ball.
This is the third 49ers quarterback to be injured this season. Trey Lance, who was the third overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, was injured early in the season.
Lance went down in the second game of the season against the Seattle Seahawks. He suffered a season-ending ankle injury.
Veteran Jimmy Garoppolo came in before suffering an injury, as well. He suffered his season-ending injury in Week 13 against the Miami Dolphins.
Purdy came in and was undefeated as a starter.
