Chester, Pa. — The Philadelphia Union missed out on playing an Inter Miami CF team with soccer superstar Leo Messi. The Union dominated Inter Miami CF 4-1 on Saturday night at Subaru Park.

They were able to get some revenge on Inter Miami CF following an earlier defeat. Back in March, Inter Miami CF won 2-0 in Florida.

Now, with the win, the Union leads the all-time series 4-2-2. This was their first win in the series since July 13th, 2022 when they won 2-1.

This concludes their two-game series with Inter Miami CF this season unless the two teams meet up in the postseason.

Inter Miami CF is expected to make the Messi signing official in July. The team is also expected to add additional summer transfer players, like Sergio Busquets. The team has announced the Busquets signing on social media but like Messi, he cannot officially sign until at least Wednesday, July 5th, when the summer transfer window opens.

Once they do sign those players, the only possible chance that these two teams could face off again this season would be in a postseason match up should that happen.

Inter Miami was the worst team in the Eastern Conference before the game. The team will remain the worst team in the conference following the loss.

Inter Miami now has a 5-0-13 record. The 13 losses are the most by any team in Major League Soccer.

At the time of this post, the Union is the fourth-seeded team in the Eastern Conference. The team has 34 points with the win.

Only FC Cincinnati, the New England Revolution, and Nashville SC have more points. The Union is within two points of both New England (36) and Nashville (35). FC Cincinnati is leading the pack with 43 points.

The Union’s fourth goal was an own goal. Inter Miami CF’s David Ruiz scored on his own net.

Inter Miami’s goal was initially ruled as an own goal by the Union. However, it was later changed to a goal by Robert Taylor.

In the first half, the Union led 3-0. Jakob Glesnes scored off a header that Kai Wagner kicked off a corner kick towards the goal that Glesnes knocked in.

Julián Carranza scored the team’s second goal. Mikael Uhre tapped the ball over to Carranza into the box then converted it into the back of the net.

Finally, Leon Flach scored on a rocket from just outside the box.
