MOHNTON, PA — Vance & Hines and Mission Foods sponsored Pro Stock Motorcycle rider Gaige Herrera is the No. 1 qualifier. Tell me if you’ve heard this before?

Herrera, who is a veteran bike rider, has picked up nearly his 10th Pro Stock Motorcycle No. 1 qualifier of the season. He went 6.672 at 202.94 at Maple Grove Raceway in Mohnton, Pennsylvania.

The Vance & Hines phenom was also the provisional No. 1 qualifier on Friday. Herrera set a track record with his ninth No. 1 qualifier of the season.

“I’m very confident,” Herrera said. “I have to give all the credit to the whole Vance & Hines Mission Suzuki team and Andrew (Hines, crew chief) and all the guys back at the shop. We’re basically just showing off their hard work and to go out there and run that, I’m very happy with it, Andrew is very happy with it. We’re definitely happy with it and I’m going into tomorrow with all the confidence in the world.

“I’m glad to get as much points as I can so far going into the Countdown. My whole goal is to try to get as many as I can again. That was my goal, and Andrew is always shooting to be No. 1 so he was all for it.”

Herrera will receive a bye into the next round. He will not have an opponent in the first round of eliminations.

Denso-sponsored rider Matt Smith Racing driver Chip Ellis is the No. 2 qualifier. He went 6.741 at 200.17 mph.

Ellis will face Cory Reed in eliminations. Reed, who returned to racing two weeks ago at the Dodge Power Brokers U.S. Nationals after two years away, went 7.044 at 192.69.
