The Chicago Bears drafted quarterback Caleb Williams with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. He is projected to be the team’s starting quarterback.
The Bears traded former starter Justin Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers leading up to the draft. Fields is now expected to compete with Russell Wilson for the starting job in the Steel City.
Williams is joining a stacked Bears offense. In the off-season, the team signed running back D’Andre Swift. The team also acquired Keenan Allen in a trade with the Los Angeles Chargers.

The Bears already have star wide receiver D.J. Moore and tight end Cole Kmet.
The Bears went 7-10 in 2023. However, in a deal that acquired Moore, the Bears ultimately acquired the No. 1 overall pick from the Carolina Panthers.
Fields, as a starter, went 5-8 in 13 games. He went 227 of 370 for 2,562 yards with 16 touchdown passes and nine interceptions.
Tyson Bagent also played for the Bears. He went 2-2 in four starts.
He went 94 of 143 for 859 yards. Bagent had three touchdown passes and six interceptions.
With a bright future, the Bears hope that Williams will be able to turn their fortunes around. As a rookie, he may have to deal with growing pains in the league.

Former rookie C.J. Stroud excelled in his rookie season with the Houston Texans as the No. 2 overall pick. The Bears hope that Williams will be able to have similar success.
With the USC Trojans, Williams went 266 of 388 for 3,633 yards last season. He had 30 touchdown passes and five interceptions.
