This was the Sounders FC’s second win of the season. They improved to 2-3-5 overall.

The team has nine points on the season. At press time, they are 12th in the Western Conference.

The Union, who are sponsored by Bimbo Bakeries, fell to 3-4-2 on the season. The team is tied with D.C. United with 13 points for 7th-best in the Eastern Conference.

These two teams will do battle on Saturday in Washington, D.C. It’ll be the first meeting between the two teams this season.

These two teams were scheduled to play on March 9th. The teams played about five minutes in torrential rains before the game was halted.

The league even scheduled the teams to finish the game on Tuesday night.

The Union looked out of place in the first half. The Sounders FC took advantage of that.

Raul Ruidiaz scored on a Union mistake as a Union player misplaced the ball. Then, Ruidiaz decided to attempt a 50-foot shot on goal.

Union keeper Oliver Semmle was out of place and the ball went into the net. The Sounders FC, who are sponsored by Providence Health, went up 1-0.

Obed Vargas made the Sounders FC go up 2-0 with a goal in the 22nd minute. Then, Ruidiaz scored on a penalty kick past Semmle in the 32nd minute.

The Union fought back in the second half. In the 55th minute, Jack McGlynn scored to make it 2-1.

A short time later, Daniel Gazdag scored to cut the lead to 3-2. With the goal, Gazdag became the Union’s all-time leading scorer.

A few minutes later, the Union scored a third goal. However, it was disallowed as they were offsides when the goal went in.

The Union was without their star keeper Andre Blake, who is battling an injury. His status for Saturday’s game with D.C. United is up in the air at this time.

If Blake is not able to go, then Semmle or Andrew Rick will be in the mix. Rick was signed to a short-term agreement before Tuesday’s night game.
