The Colorado Buffaloes have found a veteran quarterback in the transfer portal. The team has received a commitment from transfer quarterback Kaidon Salter.
Salter will compete for the starting role in 2025, as the Buffaloes look to replace Shedeur Sanders. He is expected to be a top pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Sanders, who led the Buffaloes for the last two seasons, may be the top overall pick. He’s competing for that pick with his teammate Travis Hunter and Miami (Florida) Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward.
The two-time transfer, Salter will compete with incoming freshman Julian “JuJu” Lewis, a four-star quarterback in the 2025 recruiting class, for the starting job next fall. Salter previously played with the Tennessee Titans and the Liberty Flames.
The 2023 Conference USA Most Valuable Player had a down year in 2024. He went 147 of 261 for 1,886 yards.
Salter also had 15 touchdown passes and six interceptions.
He also had 114 carries for 579 yards and seven touchdowns.
