Greg Anderson wins 108th Pro Stock race

HendrickCars.com Pro Stock driver Greg Anderson won the 65th annual Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals on Sunday. He defeated teammate Dallas Glenn in the final round at In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip in Pomona, California.

Anderson went 6.476 at 210.90 mph. The Rad Torque Systems driver Glenn went 6.503 at 211.66 in the losing effort.

“We set a [track] record in the final and this is the way you want to do it,” Anderson said. “You want to go out and earn it every single run, and you want to save your best for the final round, and that’s what we did. These are proud days today, and just like three months ago here in the final round, you want to give your best shot in the final round against the toughest competition.

“I love this place. Nine times out of 10 when we come here, you get friendly conditions like this, and I was able to drive better than I normally drive as far as reaction time goes. The slight cloud cover, the cool temperatures just feel good for a driver and that just plays more into my hand. are the conditions I need. I wish we could race here every weekend.”

Anderson won the race from the No. 1 qualifier. According to dragracecentral.com, the No. 7 qualifier has never won the race.

Glenn was the No. 7 qualifier for the race after Saturday’s qualifying.

Dragracecentral.com reported that the No. 1 qualifier had made it to the final round 27 times before Sunday. The No. 1 qualifier the race 19 times before Sunday’s eliminations.

Anderson had a 5-1 record in the previous final rounds as the No. 1 qualifier before Sunday. He is now 6-1 against Glenn in final round appearances.

The 64 year old had a 10-6 advantage in previous rounds against Glenn heading into Sunday’s eliminations.

Glenn, who is 34 years old, had the starting line advantage as he had an 0.017 reaction time. Anderson had an 0.027 reaction time.

Anderson surpassed Glenn by the time the cars reached the Christmas tree. The veteran driver then did not trail at all the rest of the race.

This is Anderson’s 108th Pro Stock win. He won by 0.0175 seconds or approximately five feet.
