The Boston Red Sox have placed starting pitcher Josh Beckett on the 15-day disabled list. He is dealing with an avulsion on his right middle finger.
The Red Sox announced that Beckett was dealing with a finger injury three days ago. They did not reveal much information on the injury at the time.

Beckett was considered to be day-to-day before this 15-day disabled list assignment.

At this press time, it is not clear when Beckett will return.
Beckett last pitched on May 13th in a no-decision game against the Baltimore Orioles. He went four innings in the game before being replaced.
The four innings were the fewest he has pitched in a game this season. In his season-opening starter, he went five innings against the Kansas City Royals.
The veteran pitcher was 7-0 on the season before the no-decision against the Orioles. His last win came in a 9-2 win against the Toronto Blue Jays on May 8th on the road.
Beckett also picked up a win at home on May 2nd against the Oakland Athletics in a 6-4 win.
In April, Beckett was 5-0 on the season. He went five innings in a 7-1 win against the Royals on April 4th.

Six days later, Beckett went seven innings in a 14-3 win against the Seattle Mariners on April 10th. He also went six innings in a 7-2 win against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on April 16th.
Then, on April 21st, he went 6 2/3 innings in a 7-5 win against the New York Yankees. To close out the month, Beckett went eight innings in a 5-2 win against the Baltimore Orioles.
