The first overall pick in this year’s draft is expected to miss a month after tearing his meniscus. Jadeveon Clowney got injured in the Houston Texans’ win over the Washington Redskins.
Clowney is expected to further go more tests later today to determine his time away from the field. Early reports indicate he’ll be out for 4-6 weeks.
After the game, Texans first-year head coach Bill O’Brien gave more information on the talented linebacker. Clowney was injured in the first game of his NFL career.

“We’re consulting with doctors and trainers right now,” O’Brien said. “I’m not sure about the status, but I will say right now that they think it’s a good prognosis, so it looks like he’s going to be OK. He may miss some time, he may not. Who knows? We’ll know better as the week goes on.”
He had a tackle for a 9-yard loss on a reverse by Redskins wide receiver DeSean Jackson. This was his last big play, before the injury that took Clowney out.
With his injury, he’ll be the first overall pick to miss time since 1992. If he is out a month, Clowney could potentially return on October 5th on the road against the Dallas Cowboys.

If he returns in six weeks, he will make his return on October 20th against the Pittsburgh Steelers on the road.
Steve Emtman was the last defensive player, who was the No. 1 overall pick, to miss time. In 1992, he suffered a torn ACL in his ninth game.
