Lizzy Musi, the girlfriend of Street Outlaws star Kye Kelley and professional race car driver, who drives in the Pro Nitrous Class in PDRA events, was involved in an accident on the track on Thursday night. She crashed her boyfriend’s famous “The Shocker” car.

According to Kelley, who posted information on his Facebook account, she was racing on a prepped track when the incident happened. He said she is fine despite “having her pride and feelings hurt.”

The incident happened at North Star Dragway in Denton, Texas. Kelley said the trans brake engaged as Musi was going down the track.

He said he would like to have the car ready for the Memphis race; however, he said: “someway, somehow I’ll find the funds to get it fixed so we can continue to make history as a drag racing couple doing what we love to do.”

“To make a long story short, we replaced the steering wheel yesterday because we noticed a crack in it, and with that being said, the trans brake button was [in] a different location,” he said in the social media post. “My reverse lights are wired to come on when my trans brake is engaged. About 1.8th in the run right before the shift change, she accidentally bumped the button, locked the trans up and the car immediately slid left and hit the wall.”

Kelley said this was a freak accident and he admitted he’s seen it happen to many of his friends over the years. He admitted it’s tough luck.

The Shocker is a huge part of their life and provides an income for them.

“Thanks for all the calls and [texts], it means a lot,” Kelley said. “Hope to have it fixed before the Memphis race if the stars align perfectly. We will be in Topeka today with Aftershock, it’s still not dialed in but we gonna give it a shot!”
