Rutgers LB arrested for double-murder plot

The Rutgers Scarlet Knights season has become a joke. The team is 1-7 and has lost seven straight games.

The team has even been criticized in recent weeks for kickoff gaffes.

But what happened on Tuesday is no laughing matter. It’s a very serious matter.

Linebacker Izaia Bullock was charged with two counts of first-degree attempted murder. He was also charged with two counts of first-degree conspiracy to commit murder.

Bullock was dismissed from the school on Tuesday. The school said he would face disciplinary actions.

Rutgers Police Chief Kenneth Cop, along with Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew Carey announced the arrest on Tuesday night, according to NJ.com. The charges after the authorities were tipped off about an alleged plot on Monday.

He attempted to kill family members of an acquaintance, authorities said. They were not injured, nor were they affiliated with the school.

Bullock joined the Rutgers football team after a walk-on tryout in 2017. He was a cornerback and a running back at Linden High School, according to a former high school teammate.

Prior to walking on at Rutgers, he played for the Gattaca Football Club. It is a program to help high school graduates get recruited by NCAA football programs.

He is presently being held, according to the paper, at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center. He will be making his first appearance in New Brunswick, NJ at their Superior Court.
