According to a report by the Houston Chronicle, Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll will be with the team for one more season. It was surprising that he was passed over for the Los Angeles Chargers head coaching vacancy.
The Chargers elected to hire Brandon Staley on Sunday night. He spent one season as the Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator before being hired by the cross-town rival.
Daboll was high school football teammates in upstate New York with Chargers GM Tom Telesco. Also, early on in the search, it appears that Daboll was the favorite.

While Daboll would have been a good candidate in an offensive mind for soon-to-be second-year quarterback Justin Herbert, the team went in a separate direction. But he’ll get to stay around Josh Allen for another season.
Right now, there are two NFL head coaching jobs left. The Philadelphia Eagles and the Houston Texans have the openings. However, at this time, it does not appear like Daboll will be their selection.
It’s not a bad solution for Daboll, who has a stacked offense to coach once again as many of the Bills’ young core is returning for another season. The 45-year-old Daboll has spent the past three seasons with the Bills.

He has not served as a head coach at any level. The five-time Super Bowl Champion has been an offensive coordinator in the NFL for seven seasons.
