The Dallas Cowboys were in a dilemma. They had just one day to get a deal done before likely giving Dak Prescott the largest franchise tag in NFL history at $37.7 million.

The contract could potentially be worth $164 million. He’s going to make $75 million for the 2021 season.

His deal has guaranteed money for the first three years. He’ll be paid $126 million in guaranteed money.
Also, Prescott’s signing bonus is the largest in NFL history. He’s receiving $66 million in a signing bonus.
It surpassed the $65 million that the Seattle Seahawks paid to Russell Wilson.
There is a full no-trade clause in his deal. Plus, there is a no-tag provision.
The two sides have been negotiating on and off for the past two seasons. The length of the deal was in question last year, as the sides could not agree to a deal at the time.
The Cowboys saw what life would have been like without Prescott in 2020. The starting quarterback suffered a season-ending injury.
