Delija gets second knockout win over Scheffel, win PFL title

Professional Fighters League fighter Ante Delija defeated Matheus Scheffel in the heavyweight bout at PFL 10: 2022 Champions. Delija knocked out Scheffel in the first round at the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York.

Delija’s knockout is the third on the main card so far. Olivier Aubin-Mercier also knocked out Stevie Ray in the second round.

Rob Wilkinson also knocked out Omari Akhmedov by TKO (doctor stoppage) in the second round of their Light Heavyweight bout.

“I wasn’t home for two months, I’m finally going back home,” Delija said afterward. “I’m so happy to come home now. Tonight, I’m back and I’m so grateful.”

Delija has won his last four bouts. He is now 23-5 in his MMA career. The Croatia fighter improved to 7-2 in the PFL.

He now has knocked out four PFL fighters.

This was Delija’s second win over Scheffel this season. He also defeated Scheffel with a right cross in the second round of their April 28th bout.

Scheffel fell to 17-9 with the loss. He is now 2-2 in the PFL.

“To the Croatian MMA, I think it’s a big deal,” Delija told reporters at the post-fight press conference (via MMA Sucka). “I’m proud to bring this title to Croatia. This is an American belt, and this means a lot.”
