“Something that once was a dream is now my reality,” Jefferson said on social media. “There are so many people that I can sit here and thank but you all know who you are that helped me along the way. But we ain’t stopping here…. There’s more to be done… SKOL!!!!!!!”

Jefferson has an average of $35 million per season. Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown was the highest-paid receiver on average with $32 million with his extension that he signed this offseason.

There was speculation that NFL teams were calling the Vikings about Jefferson. But those discussions were shut down immediately.

This came early in free agency after Kirk Cousins departed for the Atlanta Falcons. The Vikings did not make a huge free-agent quarterback signing.

Instead, the team elected to draft a young quarterback. The team used the 10th overall pick on former Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy.

Now, that duo will be together for a long time.

This is an early birthday gift for Jefferson. He will turn 25 years old on June 16th.

Jefferson was the Vikings first-round draft pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. He was the 22nd overall pick.

He has played in the NFL the last four seasons. In his career, he has appeared in 60 games, including 57 starts.

Jefferson has had 392 receptions for 5,899 yards and 30 touchdowns. He also has 12 carries for 28 rushing yards and one touchdown.

Each season of his career, Jefferson has surpassed 1,000 receiving yards. In 2024, he had a season-low 1,074 yards in 10 games.

During the 2022 season, Jefferson had a career-high 128 receiving yards. He also had 1,809 yards and eight touchdown receptions.

The Vikings hope that Jefferson will be able to put up similar numbers this season if he plays an entire season. With Cousins now in Atlanta, Sam Darnold and J.J. McCarthy will now be throwing Jefferson the passes.

Many believe that McCarthy will become the Vikings starting quarterback at some point this season — if not from the beginning of the season.
