“Shane was officially declared deceased this afternoon (Monday),” Amanda Nolan said in a Facebook post. “I kindly request that any photos or videos of his accident be removed and reported. It’s hard enough for us as a family to process this tragedy. Please respect us all and let us navigate these next few days in peace. We will share more information if and when we have it and are ready to do so. Please leave our children alone… To those (who) have reached out with love and prayers… WE GREATLY APPRECIATE THEM… but WE do not want to be a news story. We Open Facebook to see the joys that are happening outside our little world, to take our minds off of our reality… NOT to relive what we will never forget. Thank you.

“Ps I do hear you all, I appreciate your support more than I can express. But, I am only answering immediate family at the moment, I am just overwhelmed. I truly hope (none) of you ever feel what we are feeling. But the love of you all soothes. I will respond to you when I am able.”

Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pennsylvania also made a post about his death.

“Lernerville Speedway and the Tomson family are deeply saddened by the passing of Shane Nolan, a cherished member of our racing community,” their statement said. “We ask that everyone honor him and his family by respecting their wish for privacy at this time.”

Lernerville Speedway is a 4/10th-mile race track. This is their 57th year in operation.

Nolan was injured after competing on the track on Sunday. He was competing in their Geibel Fest Day of Destruction — which just happened to be the last racing event of their season.
