Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has declared for the 2020 NFL Draft. He is projected to be a Top 3 prospect.
Tagovailoa made his intentions known during Nick Saban’s Monday news conference. He leaves behind a legacy at Alabama that includes a national championship.

Speaking of his draft prospects, the Miami Dolphins — who hold the No. 5 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft — covet Tagovailoa. However, the Detroit Lions could throw a wrench in those plans.

Ryan Fitzpatrick led the Dolphins with 13 starts during the 2019 season. He went 311 of 502 for 3,529 yards. He had 20 touchdown passes and 13 interceptions.
Josh Rosen also started three games for the team. He went 58 of 109 for 567 yards in three losses. He had one touchdown pass and five interceptions.
The Lions have the third overall pick in April’s draft. General Manager Bob Quinn and his staff will have to decide if they want to draft Matthew Stafford’s replacement (the Lions can get out of his 5-year, $135 million deal following the 2020 season), or draft either the best offensive tackle in the draft in Andrew Thomas or draft the best cornerback in the draft in Jeff Okudah.
While he is leaving Alabama, Tagovailoa does have some concerns from NFL personnel. In November, he suffered a hip injury against the Mississippi State Bulldogs that cost him the rest of the season.
Tagovailoa said teams do not have concerns about his injury — a hip injury. He said teams are considering it like a knee injury.
